Are the effects free for commercial games?
The upstream pixelfx code and effects are MIT licensed. They can be used in commercial games with the required copyright and license notices. Downloads do not include the separately licensed Patch Pixel font. Read source and license details.
What do I get when I download an effect?
A transparent PNG sprite sheet and a separate Aseprite-style JSON file with frame rectangles, durations and pivot metadata. Download both files and keep them together. Learn how to use them.
Can I change the colors?
Effects with a palette expose color swatches and presets in the preview. Your customized PNG and JSON use the same settings. Playback speed and background are preview-only controls.
Can I use the effects in a browser game?
Yes. The original JavaScript effects can draw into a canvas frame with no runtime dependencies. Copy the example from an effect page and use the complete rendering loop to integrate it.
